Veneers are thin porcelain or resin shells that serve as a cosmetic treatment. They are fitted over your natural teeth, enhancing your smile.
What Are Veneers Used For?
Veneers can serve multiple purposes, including:
- Restoring the appearance of teeth with small chips
- Covering undesirable gaps between teeth
- Serving as an alternative to traditional teeth whitening
- Giving the appearance of properly aligned teeth
Benefits of Veneers
Veneers are popular for many reasons and offer several benefits:
- Less intrusive than crowns or braces – Veneers create the illusion of perfectly healthy and aligned teeth without the need for extensive dental work or frequent visits for adjustments.
- Provide the same strength as enamel – Veneers are high-tech cosmetic devices made in a dental laboratory, offering the same protection and resilience as natural teeth.
- Easy to maintain – Veneers are easy to care for, just like natural teeth. Regular brushing and flossing are sufficient. Though they eventually need to be replaced, veneers can last a long time with proper care.
The Veneer Process
During your first visit, we will remove a small amount of enamel to ensure the veneers fit snugly. Then, we will take an impression of your teeth to send to a dental laboratory, where your custom veneers will be made. Depending on your needs, we may provide temporary veneers. At your second visit, we will check the fit of the veneers. If they fit well and comfortably over your natural teeth, we will clean your teeth and use a cement adhesive to permanently attach the veneers.
